Friday 15 February (2.00 pm to 5.00 pm) 2008: Inauguration of the UCLy Chair
Over 250 people (including 200 students) were present at the Chair's installation, based on the theme of UNESCO Chairs and Cultural Diversity'. UNESCO, the French National Commission for UNESCO, the UNITWIN co-ordinator responsible for Chairs in Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue, major Lyon figures and holders of UNESCO chairs were guests at this occasion. An opening speech was given by UCLy Vice President Denise Leloup, who was followed by Rosa Guerreiro (UNESCO), Daniel Baillon (representative of the French Commission for UNESCO), Professor Martin Hauser (University of Freiburg and Bucharest) and the holder of the Chair, Joseph Yacoub.

Official opening of the academic year, by invitation of the President. Lecture given by Yann Tanguy, Professor of Public Law at the University of Nantes, holder of the UNESCO Chair in Law, Ethics and Society. The lecture was on the theme of The right to education in the world at a time of globalisation'. It was attended by a large number of public figures (around 200 people), was very well received and had a significant impact.
On the afternoon of the same day, the Chair participated in the official student opening of the academic year. This was presided over by Annick Rivet, the new Vice President for Student Affairs and was on the theme of Together and different: long live interculturality'.Over 200 students attended.
Tuesday 25 November, 6.30pm - 8.30pm
European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. A lecture organised by the UNESCO Chair, IDHL and the Faculty of Law. Guest speaker: Stelios Perrakis, Professor of International and European Institutions at Panteion University, Athens. The lecture was on the theme of Human rights and cultural diversity'.

IDHL and UNESCO Chair, joint celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
*European Heritage Days, 20 and 21 September 2008
The University in collaboration with our Chair organised a cultural event comparing the paintings of Annick Roubinowitz to Aboriginal art.
*Our Chair played an active role in three lectures on Eastern Christianity, which were very well attended (by some 700 people in all). They were organised jointly by UCLy and the Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem on 14 January, 5 February and 4 March 2008. The lecture on 14 January on Christians of the Near East: past, present and future' was given by French Ambassador Jean Guéguinou and Joseph Yacoub.
*In addition, as part of Lyon's bid to become European Capital of Culture 2013', we took part in a round table on 8 April 2008 on Intercultural Dialogue: A Challenge for Lyon 2013' at the invitation of the City of Lyon and the Goethe Institute.
* Through our association with the IDHL, we also attended the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at Lyon's town hall, at the invitation of the Lyon Chair in Human Rights, on 10 December 2008.

- Thursday 19 November 2009 : Education and intercultural dialogue. Guests: Suzy Halimi, University Professor, President of the Education and Training Committee of the French National Commission for UNESCO; and Pierre Gire, Professor of Philosophy and Head of Research at UCLy, 6.00pm - 8.00pm.
- Thursday 4 February 2010 : Round table on culture on the 30th anniversary of John-Paul II's speech to UNESCO (2 June 1980 - 2 June 2010). Guests: Mgr Francesco Follo, Permanent observer of the Holy See to UNESCO; and Emmanuel Gabellieri, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at UCLy, 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
